Maria Salvati

Born in Montreal, daughter of an Italian family of restaurateurs and builders. Maria studied fashion merchandising at Lasalle College. Worked as a stylist producing fashion spreads in different photography studios for the fashion magazine Clin d’oeil. I also studied Real Estate and Finances/Insurance Advisor at the University of Montreal.

Founded in collaboration with MENZ magazine in Canada.

In 1995, she founded a magazine for the fashion industry, reaching national levels in Canada. While working at Bugatchi Uomo, and Annie Reva collection as in-house customer service and sales; recognized there was a void for fashion designers and manufacturers to reach retailers. This insight led to the creation of a Canadian buyer’s guide called the “Fashion Network Guide / Le réseau de la mode,” listing all the fashion industries and distributing it to 20,000 retail buyers across Canada, highlighting trends in fashion and marketing. Later, a partnership with Publicor (Quebecor’s magazine division) was formed and was editor-in-chief and founder.

Maria took on the role of marketing director for the 555 Chabanel building in Montreal’s fashion district, with the mission of refining the building’s image to become an iconic fashion destination.

Created all marketing and advertising material, did the press and communications, annual fashion shows, produced the building’s buyers guide and buyer’s market. In the 5 years on this mandate for the building; it grew from 50 buyers attending the annual industry fashion show to 850 buyers and guests. Media and newspapers also covered the event.

While publishing her magazine, she came across the interior designer Jaime Bouzaglo, who designs luxury boutiques for Italian fashion designers Cerruti and Armani and others on an international level. Maria interviewed him on the marketing and design side for the Canadian retail industry. This was at the time, he had designed the multi-award-winning PrimaDonna and Mediteraneo restaurants for his local work. His work was so inspiring that she started doing his communications and PR at Jaime Bouzaglo design studio for 18 years, and published 4 books on his many creations. Maria has remained a consultant and partner ever since.

She also has extensive experience in advertising campaigns and book publishing under the company name: Insomnia Communications.

Maria prefers to be in the world of creation, without borders to ideas and the marketing and development of new projects.
Her mantra is; “Live Your Dreams”.
